LevelK’s Sales Manager Lauren Valmadre said: ”We are proud to present two of our excellent, upcoming films at Haugesund this year. Land of Glass is a wonderfully contemporary Danish children's fantasy film that seamlessly implements magic into the real world, and Mihkel, a haunting drama showcasing the bold new style of Icelandic cinema.”
Land of Glass is the feature debut of Jeppe Vig Find and Marie Dalsgaard Rønn, co-hosts and co-writers of a kids programme on DR. The film tells of 13-year-old Jas who finds a girl and an old lady hiding in his barn. Their hair is wild, their clothes are strange and they say they come from the forest. Jas soon discovers that they are elves on the run from sinister forces and comes up to the rescue. The Pilot Film production was released domestically by Scanbox on July 18, attracting 25,000 young cinemagoers.
Mihkel is the return behind the camera of Screaming Masterpiece director Ari Alexander Ergis Magnússon. Based on true events, the drama tells of Mihkel who is presented with an opportunity by his childhood friend that could set him up for life and bring him to Iceland. However, the deal comes with fatal consequences. The film is produced by Kristinn Thordarson, Leifur B. Dagfinnsson and Fridrik Thor Fridriksson for Truenorth, in co-production with Norway’s Filmhuset and Estonia’s Amrion. The Icelandic release handled by Sena is set for September 28.
