A former journalist and senior employee at Egmont Publishing, Mo will take over from the current CEO Sindre Guldvog on November 1st, 2019.  The appointment was announced today Thursday by Norway’s Ministry of Culture.

Mo’s contract at the head of the Norwegian Film Institute is for a six-year period.  The 45 year-old has 23 year experience in the media and publishing industries, having worked as a journalist, programme manager, editor and most recently, as part of the management team at Egmont Publishing. She has a broad and versatile management experience and has worked extensively on restructuring processes as a result of changes in the media industry, stated the official press announcement.

Trine Skei Grande, Minister of Culture and Gender Equality said she is confident that Kersti Mo will be a “good and active director” for an important cultural institution such as the Norwegian Film Institute. She also thanked departing CEO Sindre Guldvog “for his great efforts as director of the NFI.”

Mo said: “Norwegian film has never had greater challenges and opportunities than today, which is part of the new environment that is emerging. It is therefore essential to perform at a world-class level, to make sure that the audience will find, choose and enjoy Norwegian content in the future as well. “
