The Most Beautiful Boy in the world will be released in North America by high profile distributor Juno Films, headed by Elizabeth Sheldon. TriArt will handle the release in Swedish cinemas in 2021.

The film is a portrayal of Swedish actor/musician Björn Andresen, whose life was forever changed at the age of 15 when he played Tadzio, the iconic young boy for whom Dirk Bogarde develops an obsession in Death in Venice (1971). Andresen was then proclaimed by the Italian maestro Luchino Visconti as ‘the world’s most beautiful boy’.

In the film co-directors Kristina Lindström (Palme) and Kristian Petri (Details, Tokyo Noise) reveal the weight of stardom and the curse of beauty that Andresen - now in his 60s - had to carry and endure all his life.

With music playing a major part in the film, Mantaray Films has hired Gothenburg-born acclaimed musician Anna von Hauswolff for the score.

Seasoned producer Stina Gardell told nordicfilmandtvnews.com that the film's launch had to be delayed due to the pandemic and will now premiere in 2021.
According to her, several international sales agents are circling the film.

The Most Beautiful Boy in the World was coproduced by SVT, ZDF/Arte, with co-financing from Yle, Jonas Gardell Production, Filminvestment in Örebro, with support from the Swedish Film Institute, Nordisk Film & TV Fond and Creative Europe.
