One of the hottest directors of music videos and commercials in the US, the Finnish Antti Jokinen (photo) plans to bring the Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore and cinematographer Guillermo Navarro (Pan's Labyrinth) to Lapland and North Karelia next spring for the shooting of his ?16m epic project Nicholas North. Major Swedish and Finnish actors will join the cast.

Nicholas North is the first film that Jokinen will produce for his company Estar Studios, based both in L.A. and in Helsinki. Since 2006, the company has been involved mostly in production services and attracting foreign crews to Finland. Nicholas North is a step further for Estar, headed in Helsinki by CEO Pia Naarajärvi and producer Leila Lyytikäinen, formerly at Kinoproduction.

Co-written by Jokinen and Matthew B. Wilder, Nicholas North will draw inspiration from Finland's legendary tale Kalevala. It will focus on a young boy who sets out to save the northern people who have fallen under an evil spell. At the moment, Jokinen is filming for Hammer Films the thriller The Resident starring Hilary Swank.
