On top of the previously announced Adam Lundgren and Evin Ahmad who play the title roles, together with Lithuania’s Ieva Andrejevaitė (Emilija), the strong international cast includes Johan Rheborg (Partisan), Joel Spira (Thicker than Water), Linus Wahlgren (Partisan), Malin Crépin (When the Dust Settles), Hannes Fohlin (The Restaurant), Annika Hallin (Hamilton), Alexander Rapoport (The Americans), David Bertrand (Killing Eve), Margarita Žiemelytė (Occupied), Nikolaj Antonov (Moscow Noir) among others.

Senior behind the scenes include production designer Liv Ask (Top Dog, 22 July), cinematographers Eric Kress (Darkness:Those Who Kill, The Kingdom) and Arild Wretblad (Snabba Cash), editor Margareta Lagerqvist (Quicksand, Agent Hamilton) and costume designer Margrét Einarsdóttir (Welcome to Utmark, Rams).

Max Anger - With One Eye Open is based on Martin Österdahl’s suspense book ‘Ask No Mercy’ (‘Be inte om Nåd’), first in a trilogy about former special-ops soldier Max Anger, played by Adam Lundgren. The series is directed by Lisa Farzaneh (Quicksand) and Jesper W. Nielsen (Greyzone), with Mikael Newihl (The Lawyer) as head writer. Nice Drama’s Lejla Bešić and Jan Marnell are producing.

Set in the tumultuous 1990s in Russia, the story follows Max, who at last shot at a peaceful life when he falls for Pashie (Evin Ahmad of The Rain, Beyond Dreams), his colleague at Russia-focused think tank Vektor. But when she suddenly disappears, Max is plunged into a world of crime, corruption and international intrigue in St. Petersburg. To find Pashie, Max gets help from the local taxi driver Mira (Ieva Andrejevaitė).

“The series plays around real historical events without losing engaging personal stories about love, friendship and lies, all told through an intense and suspenseful hunt with a ticking clock to save lives and reveal lies,” said Alexander Tanno, CEO at Nent Group’s Swedish production brand Nice Drama.

The series will premiere in the fall on Nent Group’s streaming service Viaplay in the Nordics, the Baltics and Poland.
