This year’s Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize went to the Norwegian creator-writers of the series Power Play.

The Nordic award for outstanding writing of a drama series was handed out during a ceremony at Göteborg FIlm Festival’s TV Drama Vision to the Norwegian writers Johan Fasting, Silje Storstein and Kristin Grue for their excellent series Power Play (Makta). Fasting also co-directed the series, with director Yngvild Sve Flikke. The award sum of NOK 200 000 (approx. € 20 000) is funded by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

After the annoucement Fasting told the Fund:

“I wish Silje and Kristin were here. We are the co-creators of it and they were the ones hiring me to be the headwriter. I am very happy for our time together. I’m looking forward to sharing this prize with them. I am so appreciative that the festival and the fund pay attention to the writing of the shows that are made. One of the most important things for the quality of the screenwriting is the time, energy and resources we've been given, and any focus on writing is very welcome and strengthens the drama industry for years to come.”

This year’s jury consists of Danish editor, producer and screenwriter Vinca Wiedemann, Finnish journalist and critic Charlotte Winberg, Swedish actor Joel Spira, and Ukrainian producer Kateryna Vyshnevska.

The jury statement:

Choosing a winner from a diverse array of such high-quality drama has been both a privilege and a pleasure for us, the jury. The nominees have been diverse: from politics to human despair, from love for a mother to a tragic disaster at sea, from families to co-workers to friends and enemies. But the series that captured us the most was the one that managed to embrace seemingly dull historical facts with humour and playfulness, and that depicted an epoch of political history with all nuances of human idealism and flaws. Power Play stayed loyal to its essence of truth, lie and poor memory.
