The live-action animated Danish film just started filming last week for producer and distributor 41 Shadows.

The fantasy family film Kaptain Bimse and the Goggeletten (working title) is based on Bjärne Reuter’s best-selling children’s books. The prolific Jesper Asholt (Father of Four series, The Art of Crying) plays Captain Bimse, and Peter Frödin (The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear, Grethe) is the co-pilot Goggeletten. Both set on an adventure with 7-year-old Anna (Newcomer Nanna Marqvorsen) and her teddy bear.

The film co-directed by Thomas Borch Nielsen (Sunshine Barry & the Disco Worms) and Kirsten Skytte, is the first major feature project for distribution company 41 Shadows headed by Pernille Munk Skydsgaard. The DKK 13 million film is co-financed by DR, with support from the Danish Film Institute and Nordisk Film & TV Fond. The Danish premiere is set for October 4, 2018.

Current titles under 41 Shadows’ distribution banner include the French film The Midwife starring Catherine Deneuve and Catherine Frot, and the Belgian film A Wedding by Stephan Streker. Upcoming films include Norway’s Handle with Care by Arild Andresen, and the French music biopics Dalida and Django.
