Hidden (known as Eldmärkt in Swedish) is based on Filip Alexanderson’s novel Förstfödd adapted for the screen by Björn Paqualin (Hassel, Occupied) and Jonathan Sjöberg (Black Lake) who also acts as concept director. In the series nothing is quite what it seems as dark secrets, unsuspected identities and supernatural forces converge against the backdrop of modern day Stockholm.
Scorupco who starred in the films Sleepwalker and James Bond Goldeneye said: “It's a pleasure to play such a multifaceted character. An extremely strong woman, both physically and mentally, but at the same time so angry and constantly on the verge of personal collapse.” Her co-star is the prolific German actor August Wittgenstein (Ku-damm 56 & 59, The Crown).
Jakob Mejlhede, MTG EVP and Head of Programming and Content Development said: “Our next original series reimagines the global urban fantasy phenomenon in a uniquely Nordic way. Hidden blends the paranormal with hard-hitting realism and psychological drama – it’s like seeing Stockholm in a weird fairground mirror. And there’s nobody better than international superstars Izabella Scorupco and August Wittgenstein to bring this complex and fascinating world to life.”
The eight-part series is produced by Yellow Bird, in co-operation with Tele München Gruppe, Lumière in the Benelux and Banijay Rights who handles international rights. The show starts filming on January 28, 2018.
