The Finnish/Chilean TV drama was competing in the European drama competition of the 21st Festival de la Fiction de la Rochelle in France.
The political thriller Invisible heroes based on the true story of Finnish diplomats who saved thousands of Chilean citizens, during General Pinochet’s military coup in 1973, was among 12 series selected for the festival’s European competition strand.
The series co-produced by Finland's Kaiho Republic and Chile's Parox for YLE and Chilevisión, premiered on the Finnish broadcasting company in April, and over 500,000 viewers watched each episode. It also aired on DR and NRK in June. Eccho Rights handles world distribution.
La Rochelle’s top European TV drama award was handed out to the Spanish series Arde Madrid, while the festival’s Best French Drama series award went to France 2’s Une Belle histoire.
The award for Best Fiction in the 26 minute category was given out to Mental, French version of the Finnish original series created by It’s Alive’s Films for Yle. The French adaptation will premiere on France Television’s youth-oriented VOD service Slash.
