The directorial debuts of Rasmus Heisterberg and Christian Tafdrup were the big winners at the Danish film critics Bodil awards.

Heisterberg’s In the Blood won Best Film and Best Supporting Actress (Victoria Carmen), while Tafdrup’s Parents won Best Actor (Søren Malling), Best Script (Tafdrup), Best Cinematography (Maria von Hausswolff) and Best Production Design (Jette Lehmann). Trine Dyrholm was handed out her sixth Bodil for Best Actress thanks to her riveting performance in Tomas Vinterberg’s The Commune, and Lars Mikkelsen won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Jesper W. Nielsen’s The Day Will Come.

The Bodil for Best Documentary went to The War Show by Ubayda Zytoon and Andreas Dalsgaard, already major winner in Venice and Göteborg.

The German comedy Toni Erdmann (that has sold a record 105,000 tickets in Denmark via Camera Film)- picked up Best Foreign Film non-US; and The Revenant Best US Film. The Sær or Special Bodil was awarded to director Christina Rosendahl for her political commitment and the Bodil Honorary Award went to actor Henning Jensen. 

The first ever Bodil Streaming Audience award was handed out to A Conspiracy of Faith by Norwegian director Hans Petter Moland. Last year’s top selling film at the Danish cinemas was nominated by the streaming service Viaplay.
