The romantic dramedy written/directed by Euphoria’s Lisa Langseth will launch exclusively on Netflix later this year.
Love & Anarchy is the third Netflix Original commissioned to Swedish powerhouse FLX with the critically acclaimed Quicksand and upcoming Fredrik Backman adaptation Anxious People.
The eight-part series which started filming in Stockholm, has a stellar ensemble cast including Ida Engvoll (Rebecka Martinsson, The Restaurant, A Man Called Ove), Reine Brynolfsson (Ravens, Spring Tide), Björn Kjellman (Honour, Breaking Out), Johannes Bah Kuhnke (The Rain, Force Majeure), Gizem Erdogan (Caliphate, Alex), and newcomer Björn Mosten.
In the series, Ida Engvoll plays Sofie, a career-driven consultant and married mother of two. When she gets an assignment to modernise an old publishing house, she meets young IT tech Max (Björn Mosten), and an unexpected flirtatious game begins. Sofie and Max secretly challenge each other to do things that question societal norms. It starts innocently enough, but as the game gets more and more daring the consequences grow beyond proportions.
Engvoll said: “I hope Love & Anarchy becomes cheeky, funny and will give a new perspective on our society."
Langseth who makes her debut in long form format, is creator and head-writer with Alex Haridi (Quicksand, Blue Eyes, Real Humans). Quicksand producers Fatima Varhos and Frida Asp are on board, together with executive producers Pontus Edgren and Martina Håkansson from FLX.
Netflix’s first Swedish original Quicksand (Störst av allt) won Sweden’s TV award for Best Drama series and Best Actress (Hanna Ardéhn) in 2019.
FLX/Netflix’s next collaboration Anxious People will be directed by the prolific Felix Herngren, from a script by Camilla Ahlgren (The Bridge, Quicksand).
