DR's programmes The Killing 2 (Forbrydelsen 2) and The Protectors (Livvagterne) are big hits with Icelandic viewers this summer and more than one Swede out of four followed the factual entertainment programme The Farmer aired on SVT.

Nordic TV series are traditionally very popular in Iceland and DR's crime series The Killing 2 and The Protectors have been followed this summer by around one out of two Icelandic viewers on the local public broadcaster RUV. "The TV series are extremely popular in Iceland, and they often have an impressive audience share of over 50%" noted the public broadcaster DR in a statement.

DR2's series The Farmer (Bonderøven) which won the European Creative Forum's Best Public Service TV Format last year, was seen by 825,000 Swedes on SVT earlier this summer. "The Nordic region is our primary market, and it's really important to us. If they show some of our programmes, it gives us an indication that it also has potential in other countries. We are obviously pleased that our programmes also have many viewers outside Denmark. If they like what they see, there will be a natural demand for more, "commented Helene Aurø, head of DR International Sales.
