Swedish/US documentary by Kasper Collins is getting a global release (outside of Sweden) through Netflix where it is rated 11th in its all-time film chart.

Since its world premiere at Venice’s official programme-out of competition in 2016, the biopic about American jazz legend Lee Morgan and his common-law wife Helen Morgan has travelled to more than 20 destinations and received rave reviews, notably in the US where it is ranked among the Best films of 2017 in publications such as the LA Times, Esquire Magazine or The Playlist.

“I'm so happy that this film is getting so much exposure worldwide’ said Collins. The Swedish writer/distributor/producer is working on a pre-Oscar campaign with US sales agent Submarine Entertainment who handled five out of the last eight academy award winning documentaries such as Citizenfour, 20 Feet from Stardom and Searching for Sugar Man

I Called Him Morgan is competing this week for Best Nordic Documentary at Nordisk Panorama in Malmö. The film was produced by Kasper Collin Produktion, with support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond. NonStop Entertainment released it in Swedish cinemas in March and SVT will air it later in the year.
