The sales company will be handling global sales on the Norwegian film, set to have its world premiere at Toronto’s Centrepiece programme.

A Happy Day is Zaman’s third feature after Before Snowfall (2013) and Letter to the King (2014), both festival hits, recipients of Göteborg’s Dragon award for best Nordic film.

With his new drama, the director of Kurdish origin tackles again the themes of belonging and identity, pushing his cinematic ambitions with the use of magic realism and the snowy setting of northern Norwegian. “A Happy Day is a beautiful and important film, which we are very proud to be representing. Hisham Zaman has created a heartwarming universe in the stunning, biting cold Norwegian nature, said Rikke Ennis, CEO at REinvent.

The film was produced by Zaman for his company Snowfall Cinema, in association with seasoned producers Turid Øversveen (Out Stealing Horses) and Renée Hansen Mlodyszewsk, in co-production with Zentropa Denmark, Rein Film and support among others from Nordisk Film & TV Fond. The film was acquired for Scandinavia by Scandinavian Film Distribution, with Ymer Media handling on their behalf the Norwegian release, set for October 20.

REinvent's Toronto slate also takes in Lukas Moodysson's Together 99.
