Søren Malling plays a psychologist and self appointed almighty God in Henrik Ruben Genz’s new film Gud taler ud (lit. God Speaks Out’). The film produced by Signe Leick Jensen and Morten Kaufmann for Toolbox Film just started filming this week.

The director known for darkly humorous dramas such as Terribly Happy (Karlovy Vary Crystal Globe) is bringing to the screen Jens Blendstrup’s best-selling autobiographical novel from 2004, adapted by Bo hr. Hansen. It’s the story of Uffe/’God’ who controls his family and patients with an iron yet loving hand. But a rebellion against ‘God’ is quietly brewing among his three sons and wife Gerd Lillian, the rock in the family.

Uffe's wife is played by Swedish singer Lisa Nilsson. Other actors include Jesper Asholt, Jacob Kvols and newcomer Marcus Gert. Genz’s long time collaborators, cinematographer Jørgen Johansson and editor Kasper Leick have boarded the project.

God Speaks Out is co-produced by Deluca Film in partnership with TV2, the West Danish Film Fund and support from the Danish Film Institute. Scanbox holds domestic rights. The premiere is scheduled for September 2017.
