The current Museums director at Roskilde and former CEO at the Danish Film Institute will assume his new position at DR on April 1st 2019.
As head of DR’s new Culture, Children and Youth department, Bo Nielsen will be responsible for the public broadcaster’s Children's and Youth area, science, lifestyle, drama, culture, orchestra and the Concert Hall.
For DR’s Chairman of the Board Michael Christiansen, Bo Nielsen is the perfect candidate with his ‘clear profile both in the audience-related and cultural domains’.
Bo Nielsen’s current job as head of the Museum Group, ROMU in Roskilde comprises the management of 10 museums. Prior to that, he was CEO at the Danish Film Institute from 2007 to 2017, and from 1992 to 2007 he was Managing Director of Dagbladet Information.
DR’s Culture, Children and Youth department was set up in September, when the pubcaster decided to merge three of its existing departments - DR News, DR Danmark and DR Culture into two departments: DR News, Districts and DR Culture, Children and Youth, following an overall reorganisation, due to massive budget cuts of 20% and job losses of around 375-400 (including 25 managerial positions) imposed by the government.
