The Norwegian dramedy series produced by Monster is currently filming in Oslo and will premiere on NENT Group’s streaming service in 2021.

The six-part series Pørni is created and written by established actress Henriette Steenstrup, who picked up a Dragon Award-Best Acting in Göteborg, earlier this year, for her performance in the film Beware of Children.

Steenstrup plays Pernille, a single mum of three teenagers, who has to care as well for her ageing father at home and 30 kids at work. She simply has to suck it up!

The series is co-directed by Gunnar Vikene (Occupied, The Third Eye) and Charlotte Blom (Next Summer, The Games). Monster’s Bård Fjulsrud (Nobel) and Ida Håndlykken Kvernstrøm (Young & Promising) are producing.

Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group Chief Content Officer said: “Our latest original series is at once heart-warming, infuriating and joyful - just like parenting. Henriette Steenstrup’s career continues to hit new heights and Pørni is her most personal project yet, headlined by a complex character living a quietly heroic life that will resonate with audiences everywhere". Wallestam continues: “With our most recent smash hit The Machinery currently breaking Viaplay records across the Nordic region, we are continuing to invest in the broadest and best streaming experiences in the business.”

The Swedish series The Machinery starring Kristoffer Joner made history as Viaplay’s biggest premiere ever when it launched May 24.

Upcoming Viaplay Originals include Orca, Shadowplay, The Ambassador, seasons 2 of The Truth Will Out, Pros & Cons, Perfect People, Those Who Kill, Honour, Hammarvik, Love Me, First Responders among others. At the end of March, Viaplay had over 2,5 million paying subscribers.
