The comedy starring Amanda-winner Ine Marie Wilman is directed by Norwegian/Icelandic director Gunnbjörg Gunnarsdóttir for Norway’s På Film.
Sales and aggregation company LevelK has picked up the film ahead of its presentation on Thursday August 24 as a work in progress at Haugesund’s New Nordic Films.
Viktoria Must Go is Gunnarsdóttir’s third film after her debut Forever and Never and the co-directed South-African doc The Art of Fallism.
The edgy comedy is written by the director with seasoned TV writer Rolf Magne Golten Andersen (Headhunters, Magnus).
The wealthy young siblings Hedvig and Henrik have found the perfect way to get rid of Viktoria, their annoying stepmother. They want Carl, a Bosnian refugee to be their hitman. The latter who is a law-biding citizen, refuses to help them. That is - until he finds himself and his family in a difficult financial situation. “When I wrote and directed this movie, I wanted to show in a satirical and entertaining way the impact it has on children when a parent obtains a new partner,” said Gunnarsdóttir.
In the title roles are Ine Marie Wilmann, who just won an Amanda award-best supporting actress for War Sailor, Leo Ajkić (In Order of Disappearance), Morten Svartveit (The Innocents) and Agnete Haaland(The Child Wanderers).
The film in post-production is produced by Ole Marius Elvestad for På film, and executive produced by Einar Loftesnes (The Tunnel), with support from Mediefondet Zefyr and Vestnorsk filmsenter. Scandinavian Film Distribution will release it domestically in February 2024.
LevelK was also in Haugesund with the films Little Adults and Sea Sparkle, both screening at the Norwegian International Film Festival.
