Bonnier owned TV4-C More have commissioned two seasons of the Swedish spy thriller series Hamilton. The reboot of the iconic series based on Jan Guillou’s best-selling books, is co-produced by Dramacorp and IRLC. Dramacorp’s Managing Director Patrick Nebout is executive producer together with his colleague Mia Sohlman. Norway’s Petter S. Roselund (The Heavy Water War) is head-writer.

The first season (10x44’) will follow the personal journey of the Swedish spy Carl Hamilton, on his first assignment in Europe, as he gets caught up in a web of lies and his mental sanity is put to the test. Nebout told nordicfilmandtvnews.com: “With this project, we’re moving beyond the classic Nordic Noir crime genre into a contemporary, chaotic world of spying, paranoia and the geopolitical power game that is being played anew between Scandinavia, Russia and the US, like a Cold War 2.0, but without the ideology.“

Josefine Tengblad, Head of Drama at CMore/TV4, said her group had been looking for a while for “a strong local production with international potential”. For her Hamilton is ‘one of the strongest brands in the Nordic countries with a main character that the audience loves’. “The story also has a theme that shines light on what is going on in our world today”, she noted.

Hamilton will be shot in English, Swedish and other languages to respect the authenticity of the show. Other international broadcasters and co-production partners are set to board the project.

Filming is set to start in 2017. Hamilton season 1 will be shown first on the streaming service C More and subsequently on TV4.
