One of the top jobs in Swedish film and TV: Culture and Drama commissioning editor for the Swedish public broadcaster SVT, has landed into the hands of Peter ?Piodor' Gustafsson (photo) who will leave his current job as Feature Film commissioner for the Swedish Film Institute at the beginning of 2010.

The 47 year-old Gustafsson who holds a masters degree in Law from Stockholm University, has been SFI Feature Film Commissioner since 2006. Prior to that, he was founder of Sweden's Happy Life Animation AB, CEO and creative producer at Wegelius Film and Wegelius Animation, producer at SF and project manager at SVT Drama.

The position of SVT Drama commissioner editor is held temporarily since last winter by Thomas Nilsson, the company's director of Channels and Planning, after Gunnar Carlsson left the position after many years in the job. Gustafsson will also be responsible for Culture, a post held previously by Safa Safiyari, SVT commissioning editor for Children and Youth.

Gustafsson sees his future job at SVT as a new challenge as well as a continuation of the work he has done over the last three years at the SFI to defend creativity and plurality in Swedish film. "We have worked very hard at the Swedish Film Institute with issues such as quality for artistic content and more accessible content in various genres. At the moment it seems to have been a very successful strategy and I think there are a number of similar issues and challenges at SVT, such as how to enhance quality and at the same time reach more viewers in different target groups. Another thing I'm very interested in is the possibilities to combine TV and internet," he said.
