Icelandic born Grimar Jónsson (photo) has joined Nordisk Film & TV Fond on March 1, as the new Project Manager, Fiction. He replaces Sigurd Mikal Karoliussen who is leaving the Fund to work as independent producer.

Born in 1976, Jónsson studied Business Administration at Copenhagen Business College, then economics at Reykjavik University. While teaching Computer Sciences at NTV, Reykjavik's Computer and Business School, he founded the film production company Buri in 2003. Three years later he joined Zik Zak Filmworks, one of today's leading film production companies in Iceland,-as associate producer and co-owner. Jónsson acted as production coordinator on Sólveig Anspach's Back Soon, co-producer on Rúnar Rúnarsson's multi-award winning short film 2 Birds, producer on Arnar Jónasson's documentary film Electronica Reykjavik, unit production manager on Dagur Kári's The Good Heart and producer on Árni Óli Ásgeirsson's upcoming film Undercurrent (Brim).

"It is a pleasure to have joined Nordisk Film & TV Fond," said Jónsson. "I really like the contrast: it is both big and small, with few people but lots of ambitions."

Hanne Palmquist, CEO for Nordisk Film & TV also said: "With his industry background, Grimar is a real asset for Nordisk Film & TV Fond. Knowing the Fund, ‘from the outside' is the best platform for working within the Fund. We can now pride ourselves of having four out of five Nordic territories represented in terms of employees at Nordisk Film & TV Fond. As for Sigurd Mikal who started at the Fund at the same time as I did in 2007, he will be greatly missed. He has chosen to go out in the world of independent film production and we wish him all the best of luck."
