Alexia Wennberg will take on her new position on October 1st and will report to the Scandinavian production company’s CEO Johannes Jensen.
Wennberg’s most recent job was Head of Content Optimization for Viaplay AB at Nordic Entertainment Group. Before that, she was deputy CEO at Salomonsson Agency, Scandinavia’s leading literary agency, for whom she set up in 2013 the screenwriting department that includes today some of the top Nordic writers for film and television.
Her role as producer at Banijay Right’s subsidiary Yellow Bird will include spearheading the development of new and existing projects, building on Yellow Bird’s legacy of TV-series and films for a worldwide audience.
Wennberg said: “I’m truly excited to start working with such a prolific company as Yellow Bird. Having been on the other side of their negotiating table – both as a literary agent and at the broadcaster Viaplay – I know first-hand how hard-working and creative they all are. From the iconic and commercial successes that Yellow Bird has had over the years, to the highly anticipated upcoming US feature The Girl in the Spider’s Web and brand-new urban fantasy series Hidden, both premiering this fall, it’s a great honour to become part of the company. With such a strong development slate of strong projects going into production in the coming months, it feels like the perfect time to join."
Johannes Jensen, Yellow Bird CEO said he is looking forward to working with Wennberg at one of the busiest times ever for Yellow Bird. “2019 will be the most productive year in Yellow Bird’s history, and we have a need for many talented ‘yellow birds’ and she is truly one of those, ‘he said.
Yellow Bird’s latest Swedish crime show The Truth Will Out (Det som göms i snö) based on an original idea by Leif GW Persson, had a strong start on Sweden’s Kanal 5 on August 21, with 480,000 average viewers (highest 531,000), 18.5 percent share and 2.8 rating in the 15-44 demo.
