Exclusive: The Herngren brothers start shooting next week the film inspired by the Swedish comedy hit series. Solsidan The Movie will be the big film event for the end of 2017 for SF Studios, considering the huge success of the Solsidan TV brand and track record of its creators at FLX.

After their latest BO success The 101 year Old Man Who Skipped the Bill & Disappeared (676,234 admissions in Sweden), Felix Herngren and his brother Måns Herngren will bring to the silver screen the story of three couples Alex & Anna, Freddie & Mickan and Ove & Anette from the TV show, as they deal with new life crises such as divorce, childlessness as they spend their summer in the small summer resort of Torekov in Skåne.

The script is written by Jesper Harrie, nominated for the first Nordisk Film & TV Fond prize with Bonusfamiljen/The Bonus Family

According to FLX co-managing director Pontus Edgren, filming will wrap late June-early July and the premiere is set for late 2017 across Scandinavia. Solsidan-The Movie is produced by FLX and Jarowskij in co-production with SF Studios and support from the Swedish Film Institute.

On the TV front the Swedish comedy content factory FLX is doing the final edit on the 6x45’ crime comedy Enkelstöten (The Simple Heist) directed Felix Herngren and Emma Bucht. The new take on the popular 80s SVT show Dubbelstötarna follows two women in their late 50s who struggle with their family and financial problems and decide to rob a bank. Alongside leading ladies Sissela Kyle (Miss Friman’s War) and Lotta Tejle (30 Degrees in February) are Tomas von Brömssen, Ralph Carlsson and Gunilla Röör. The series will premiere on TV4 in the fall. TV2 Norge and YLE have pre-bought the series and FremantleMedia International handles world distribution.

FLX, TV4 and FreemantleMedia International are also partners on Torpederna Season 2 set to premiere in May on C More. Måns Herngren and Jens Sjögren are directing based on a script by Jesper Harrie, Santiago Gil and Kristina Swärd. Meanwhile FLX’s Bonusfamiljen season 2 (10x45’) supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond is scheduled to premiere on SVT on January 28, 2018. Besides Vera Vitali, Frank Dorsin, Erik Johansson, Fredrik Hallgren and Petra Mede, new actors comprise Regina Lund and Dragomir Mrsic. Season one finished airing this month on SVT and passed an average 1 million viewers on linear TV. Bonusfamiljen was number one of all Swedish web/catch-up TV series every week during its entire run.

According to Variety, Netflix just bought the two seasons of Bonusfamiljen for global distribution outside Scandinavia.
