Produced by Breakthru Film in the UK with Norway's Storm Studios (partners on Free Jimmy), Chopin was allocated the biggest grant from the NFI (NOK 2m) towards its NOK 43m budget. The 85 minute animation film directed by Martin Leslie Clapp and Adam Wyrwas will be ready in 2010 to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the Polish composer. Euforia will handle distribution in Norway.
Waves from Home based on a script by Peter Dalle will focus on a European expedition to Svalbard in 1939. The project -granted NOK 1.5m- is produced by Sweden's Fladen Film in co-production with Norway's Maipo AS. Filming is set for September. Nordisk Film will distribute the film in the autumn 2010.
Simon and the Oaks, the NOK 40m Swedish project produced by Göta Film, was awarded NOK 1.2m. Norway's Fimkameratene is co-producing, with Denmark's Asta Film and Germany's Schmidtz Katze Filmkollektiv. Following Björn Runge's decision to abandon the project, Simon...is looking for a new director.
Mama Gogo produced by Spellbound in Iceland, is co-produced by Norway's Filmhuset production. The project which was allocated NOK 900,000 from the NFI is now in post-production. SEG will handle the Norwegian release in February 2010.
I det best mening is a Danish film by Louise Friedberg produced by Nimbus Film. Set in 1952, the drama focuses on children from Greenland who were sent to Denmark to make them ‘Danish'. Gudny Hummelvoll (SF Norge) who collaborated with Nimbus Film on Flame & Citron will act as Norwegian co-producer. Shooting will start on July 13 and SF Norge will release the film in the autumn 2010.
