NRK, TV2 Norge and Aftenposten have joined forces to create the first audience-oriented Nordic TV Drama Festival in the Nordic region. ‘Nordiske Seriedager’ will be held on September 28-29 at Oslo’s cultural centre Sentralen.
In their joint announcement, the two Norwegian broadcasters and leading newspaper said: “TV drama is one of the fastest growing areas within popular culture right now, and it is time to celebrate television series with a special festival.
With Nordiske Seriedager (‘Nordic Series Days’), we will have for the first time a common arena and meeting place where actors in the Norwegian and Nordic TV industry can meet to exchange ideas, knowledge and experiences as well create new opportunities. We want this to be a showcase of Nordic drama productions, and will therefore have both an industry conference section and a festival, which will be open to the public.” Ivar Køhn, NRK Head of Drama added: “There are many Nordic TV drama platforms for industry people in the Nordic region, but this is the first time where the audience has a chance to meet talents from their hit TV shows and to have sneak previews of upcoming Nordic TV dramas.”
Among the 20 Nordic TV dramas that will be previewed are Nobel (NRK), Acquitted, Season 2 (TV2), Aber Bergen (TV3), Farang (TV4), Bonusfamiljen (SVT/NRK), Costa del Kongsvik (TVNorge), Midnight Sun (SVT/NRK) and Nurses (TV4/TV2). Talents set to take part in debates include Josephine Bornebusch and Iben Hjejle who will discuss what Swedes, Danes and Norwegians actually laugh about, and cast members of Nobel and Acquitted 2 will introduce their respective shows.
Another high point of the two-day event will be a new awards ceremony where prizes for Best TV Drama, Best Comedy series and Best Actor will be handed out.
The full programme of Nordiske Seriedager will be announced closer to the event.
