Selma Vilhunen’s coming of age film produced by Tuffi Films has been selected as Finland’s Oscar candidate for Best International Feature Film.
Stupid Young Heart had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and went on to win the Crystal Bear –Best Film At the Berlinale Generation 14plus category. Based on a script by Kirsikka Saari, Stupid Young Heart tells of teenage kids, unexpectedly faced with grown-up problems of pregnancy, while far right ideas start to spread in their multicultural neighbourhood. In the title roles are Jere Ristseppä, Rosa Honkonen, Abshir Sheikh Nur, Ville Haapasalo and Pihla Viitala.
Stupid Young Heart was produced by Elli Toivoniemi and Venla Hellstedt of Tuffi Films, with support among others from Nordisk Film & TV Fond. The film opened domestically in October 2018. The Yellow Affair handles world sales.

The Academy awards nominations in the International Feature Film category (previously know as Foreign Language category) will be unveiled January 13, 2020. The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles February 9, 2020.
