Zentropa’s Danish mini-series for the family had a strong start when it premiered on December 1st on TV2 Denmark.

In a week dominated by Christmas related shows, such as the traditional Christmas calendar series The Magic Talisman (DR) and Tvillingerne og julemanden (TV2), the four-part series Finding Home (Håbet) still opened in the top 10 with 708,000 viewers on TV2’s Saturday 20.30 slot, and achieved the best audience satisfaction rate of 4.1 that evening.

Zentropa producer Jonas Bagger said: “It [the ratings] exceed all our expectations. Despite a reluctant reception of the first episodes from part of the professional press, we have had great response from the audience, as shown by the ratings. We are really, really happy with this opening,” he said.

Finding Home is directed by Christian E. Christiansen (Below the Surface) from a script by Ina Bruhn (The Wish). Set in 1899, the story follows 15-year-old orphan Marie Jensen, on a mission to find her father who has gone missing at sea. Disguised as a boy, she boards the vessel ‘Håbet’ on a dramatic journey at sea from Denmark to Norway, full of danger, injustice, friendship and love. Newcomer Anine Lindvig cast as Marie, plays against Lars Brygmann (Dicte-Crime reporter), Lars Ranthe (The Hunt), Molly Blixt Egelind (Love is All You Need) and Jon Lange (Something’s Rockin). Skam actress Lisa Teige also has a small part. Finding Home is produced by Zentropa for TV2, in co-production with Film Fyn, Film i Väst, with support from the Danish Film Institute’s Public Service Fund, in collaboration with NRK, C More/TV4
