The aim of Filmpool Nord Development is to raise the quality of the projects developed in the region, to meet with market demands on a regional, national and international standpoint. "In Sweden -vand in Europe for that matterv-, projects are not developed sufficiently before they get to financiers. Filmpool Nord Development intends to respond to this problem by supporting audiovisual works with script development, research, translations, packaging, test shoots, and international contacts during the three years existence of the project," said Katja Härkönen, head of marketing and information for Filmpool Nord.
Half the SEK28.5m budget for Filmpool Nord Development comes from the EU and the other half from the Norrbotten region. The project is operational in May, under the aegis of project manager Sirel Peensaar. Filmpool Nord has a total budget of around €3.9m for 2009. Recent films co-produced and co-financed by the programme include Let the Right One In, Everlasting Moments, Wolf, and In Your veins.
