The Norwegian arthouse distribution house Fidalgo has just acquired from Trust Film Sales distribution rights to Erik Nietzsche - The Early Years, directed by Jacob Thuesen and scripted by Lars von Trier.

"We just closed the film with the Norwegian distributor Fidalgo who also released The Boss of it All with great success," said Trust's CEO Rikke Ennis.

Lars von Trier's Danish comedy The Boss of it All has sold 18,000 tickets since its Norwegian release on May 11, 2007. "We saw the first week that we would recoup on our investment and that the film would be very successful in Norway," said Fidalgo's managing director Frank L. Stavik. "Lars von Trier has a strong basis of film followers in Norway. Sandrew Metronome often picks up his bigger films and has been very successful with Breaking the Waves and Dogville for example, but if they don't, we do!"  Lars von Trier' movies released by Fidalgo include The Idiots, Manderlay, The Hospital and the documentary about the Danish filmmaker Transformer.

Stavik said he plans to release Erik Nietzsche in Norway around the same time as SF in Denmark, on December 25, 2007.

The satire about the Danish film industry was produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen for Zentropa was very well received in Toronto and at the recent Copenhagen Film Festival. It will soon screen in competition at the Tokyo Film Festival (October 20-28). Sonet Film will release it in Sweden this winter.
