During the summer, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has reached new record levels at the world top charts. The first Millennium film has now grossed more than ?50m from 30 territories, making it the world's third biggest earning foreign language film of this year, according to sales company Zodiak Entertainment Distribution.

The Swedish film directed by Denmark's Niels Arden Oplev, has been the most successful in Scandinavia (over 2.8 million admissions for Nordisk Film), France (1.2 million admissions for UGC), and Spain (1.2 million for Vertigo). The film is opening today in the Netherlands, and five more territories have bought it from Zodiak: NFP (Distribution Warner Bros) in Germany, Paradiso in Japan, Polyfilm in Austria, Lusomundo in Portugal and Mirrovision in South Korea. Millennium 2 (The Girl Who Played with Fire) will be released by Nordisk Film in Sweden, Denmark and Norway on September 18.
