The three high end Danish co-produced and produced series will be available from August 2018 until early 2019 on DR1’s Sunday 20.00 prime time slot and online on DRTV.
The crime show The Team-Reloaded/Mord uden grænsen (8x60’) will kick start DR’s fall/winter season on August 19. The original pan-European investigation show created by Mai Brostrøm and Peter Thorsboe averaged 1 million viewers when it aired on DR in 2015. The returning season has a new creative team in director Kasper Gaardsøe (Dicte, Crime Reporter), co-writers Kari Vidø (Unit 1) and Jesper Bernt, and a new cast.
Marie Bach Hansen (The Legacy) plays Danish police commissioner Nelly Winther, Jürgen Vogel is Gregor Weiss, head of the human trafficking section of the Hamburg police, and Lynn van Royen (Hotel Beau Séjour) terrorist specialist Paula Liekens working for the Belgian secret service. The series is produced again by Germany’s Network Movie in co-production with Denmark’s Nordisk Film, the Benelux’s Lunanime, Superfilm and C-films for ZDF, DR and VTM. ZDFE handles sales. -Ride Upon the Storm/Herrens Veje season 2 (10x60’) created by Adam Price will premiere on DR1 on October 14.
The character-driven drama about the Krogh family of priests brings back Lars Mikkelsen as Johannes, the patriarchal clergyman and his wife Elisabeth played by Ann Eleonora Jørgensen. This new season is a dramatic journey towards light, exploring how you can progress in life when you lose a loved one. Co-stars include Simon Sears, Fanny Louise Bernth and Camilla Lau. Season 2 is produced again by DR Drama, in co-production with Arte France and SAM Le Français, with Studiocanal handling sales.
Follow the Money/Bedrag season 3 (10x58’) from creator/head writer Jeppe Gjervig Gram will air on DR1 early 2019. Gram has teamed up with top writers Jenny Lund Madsen (Something’s Rockin’) and Adam August (Darkland). The two promising feature film directors Gustav Möller (The Guilty) and Milad Alami (The Charmer) will make their first steps as episode writers, next to concept director Søren Balle.
Season 3 focuses on two characters from previous seasons, Nicky (Esben Smed), who has become a heavy weight kingpin in the Danish underworld, and Alf (Thomas Hwan), now working for the police’s gang units. A new character is introduced: the bank employee Maria (Maria Rich). Season 3 is produced by Profile Pictures’ Caroline Schlüter Bingestam and Jacob Jarek for DR Drama.
The Danish public broadcaster will also launch several other Nordic premium dramas in 2018-2019 as part of the Nordic 12 initiative: NRK’s Home Ground 1&2, Twin, YLE’s Blind Donna, Hooked S1, RÚV’s Manners, and SVT’s Bonus Family 3, The Days the Flowers Blossom, and Summer 68.
