The Norwegian series grabbed Best Fiction in age category 11-15 both in the main Prix Jeunesse International section and from the International Youth Jury in Munich.

The 13x15’ series ZombieLars created by Gisle Halvorsen and Thomas Seeberg Torjussen tells of an 11-year old half zombie and his friends: a ninja, a witch, a troll and a changeling, trying to explore their true nature in a prejudiced society.

The series supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond was competing at the Prix Jeunesse International children’s TV festival against seven other international shows in the 11-15 Fiction category such as We Are Bears from Turner Broadcasting/Cartoon Networks.

ZombieLars season 2 is premiering in June on NRK Super and a season 3 will be delivered by the end of 2018. The series is sold internationally by Global Screen.

Nearly 400 programmes from 60 nations were submitted for the most prestigious children & youth programming festival’s 28th edition at the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation in Munich, set this year under the theme ‘Strong Stories for Strong Children - Resilience and Storytelling’.

Several other Nordic shows were awarded on Tuesday evening:

  • DR Ultra’s The Handball Mission (DK), Best Non-Fiction show, age category 7-10,
  • NRK’s Songfoni (NO), Best Non-Fiction, Category up to 6,
