Exclusive-The comedy Living with my Ex has been picked up by ZDF Enterprises, while APC handles the crime show Deadwind, and YLE Sales the webseries Nerd: Dragonslayer 666.
The worldwide distribution deals with Germany’s ZDF Enterprises and French company APC (About Premium Content) reflect Dionysos Films’ expanding scripted slate targeting the international market.
The comedy show Living with my Ex (Ex-onnelliset) written and directed by Johanna Vuoksenmaa (Click Me) for MTV consists of two seasons of 12x45 minutes. It follows the chaotic lives of five recently divorced couples and their families. Wanting to make the situation as painless as possible for themselves and their children, they move into an apartment building designed specifically for the needs of divorcees with children.
Season 1 was a big hit across all demographics when it first aired on MTV3 in 2016, with almost one million viewers on a weekly basis. In the main roles are Miia Nuutila, Annaleena Sipilä, Jarkko Pajunen, Mikko Nousiainen, Essi Hellén and Saija Lentonen.
Season 2 is currently filming and will premiere on the Nordic streaming service C More in June 2018 before airing on MTV3 in December 2018.
“This is our first collaboration with C More, and we’re pleased they are programming it in June. Other broadcasters hesitate to programme drama series in the summer, but C More is all for it, which is great,” said producer Riina Hyytiä who runs Dionysos Films with Johanna Vuoksenmaa.
Deadwind (12x52’) will have its international launch at MIPCOM where APC will offer three episodes for viewing in Cannes. The emotional crime drama is both a murder investigation of a young woman, Anna Bergdahl, and a personal drama of the main character Sofia Karppi who has just lost her husband and is left alone with two children to take care of. In the main roles are Pihla Viitala (Black Widows), Lauri Tilkanen (Tom of Finland), Tommi Korpela (Rare Exports-A Christmas Tale) and August Wittgenstein. The series will be ready end of 2017, with a premiere scheduled for early 2018.
The youth comedy series Nerd: DragonSlayer666 (Nörtti: Dragonslayer666) is created by upcoming 27-year old writer/director Aleksi Delikouras, based on his own bestselling book, shortlisted for the 2012 Finlandia Junior Prize. It’s the story of 19-year old gamer DragonSlayer666 whose mum destroys his computer.
