The hiring of Maria Dahlin is part of the Danish brands’ strategy to ramp up their pan-Nordic activities, as explained by Foldager Sørensen: “Søren, Adam and I have a sincere deep love for Swedish stories; I think our previous productions clearly showed that. This is a natural development of our cultural kinship between Sweden and Denmark, and we look forward to collaborating with the many talented and exciting writers and directors in Sweden.”
“Our ambition is to be an innovative and independent addition to the Swedish production landscape with a focus on high-quality original stories and with a clear Nordic voice,” added the producer of Björn Runge’s Oscar nominated The Wife.
Regarding Dahlin, Foldager Sørensen said she has tried to recruit her “for several years”. “With her personality, skills and experience in the market, I believe she is the right person to lead the Swedish establishment.”
Dahlin who comes from Art & Bob Film & Drama where she held the position of Head of film & TV drama since 2019, said she is looking forward to collaborating with Foldager Sørensen who “has a knack for combining a sustainable business with touching original stories.”
Dahlin served as producer on the Swedish films Becoming Astrid starring Alba August and Johannes Nyholm’s The Giant. She was executive producer on the film Call Girl and associate producer on the series Modus.
SAM Productions has had a prolific relationship in recent years with Netflix, delivering successful shows such as The Chestnut Man, Borgen and Ragnarok.
