429 films from 80 countries and 40 seminars are on the menu the 35th Göteborg International Film Festival (GIFF) unspooling from January 27 to February 6. Denmark will occupy a large share of the programme with seminars and 30 films screenings, including Mads Matthiesen's feature debut Teddy Bear, running for the Golden Dragon for Best Nordic Film and its handsome SEK one million cash award. The jury is headed by Austrian director Jessica Hausner.

Teddy Bear will have its European premiere in Gothenburg after its world premiere at Sundance's World Cinema competition programme. The film will run for Best Nordic Film against the Swedish films Avalon by Axel Petersén -opening film of the festival-, Flimmer, feature debut of the short film maverick Patrick Eklund, She Male Snails, a documentary/fantasy epic by Ester-Martin Bergsmark. Norway's Company Orheim by Arild Andresen, Sons of Norway by the established Jens Lien, Stars Above by Finland's rising filmmaker Saara Cantell (Heartbeats) and Iceland's documentary Either Way by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurdsson, recent winner of Best Film/Best Script in Torino.

The Danish focus include a masterclass with Lone Scherfig and the debate ‘Danish Features vs Danish Documentaries' attended by Jakob Høgel, artistic director of New Danish Screen, directors Birgitte Stærmose, Eva Mulvad and Mads Mathiesen.

 February 2 is dedicated to NFM TV Drama Vision (formerly Meeting Point Television). David Madden, president and Nancy Cotton, vice president of Fox Television Studios will discuss the process of remaking the Danish cult series The Killing (Forbrydelsen). They will be joined by DR Head of drama Piv Bernth and Swedish producer Lars Blomgren (Filmlance International) who will try to explain ‘What makes Nordic TV Drama Travel'.

NFM TV Drama Vision' will kick start the three-day annual Nordic Film Market where around 30 upcoming Nordic films will be introduced to over 250 international film professionals.
