The Danish actor won an accolade for his performance in the Danish drama Until We Fall by Samadou Acheche Sahlstrøm.
The acclaimed actor of the TV series Borgen, Warrior and the film Darkland, shared the award at the 22nd Tallinn Black Night Film Festival with his Iranian counterpart Navid Mohammadzadeh (Sheeple). “In two very different, and differently captivating performances, these two actors carry their film on their shoulders and leave the viewer hungry for more” said the jury.
In Sahlstrøm’s second feature Until We Fall (Till vi faller), Salim plays Adam, who tries with to cope with the disappearance of his child, 10-year-old Lucas, with his wife Louise. The couple cannot grieve peacefully as the body of the small boy has never been found. The film produced by Denmark’s Meta Film, in co-production with Way Creative Film in Sweden, will be released domestically by Scanbox on April 25, 2019.
The Norwegian feature As We Fall (Når jeg faller) by Magnus Meyer Arnese won a Special Jury Prize from the First Feature Film competition. The drama about addiction was the closing film at the last Haugesund International Film Festival.
The Best Feature award from the First Feature competition was handed out to Head Above Water (France) and the Grand Prix-Best Film from the main official competition to Wandering Girl (Colombia/France).
