The Writing on the Wall (Skriften på veggen), the first feature film in the new Varg Veum series, will start filming next week with a Danish/Norwegian stellar cast including Nikolaj Lie Kaas, (photo) Lene Nystrøm and again Trond Espen Seim in the central role of the private eye investigator from Bergen.

Stefan Faldbakken (Uro) will direct the crime thriller supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond. "With The Writing on the Wall, we want to get deeper into the Veum character and show a side of him never seen before," explains Faldbakken. Other key cast members include Petronella Barker (Hawaii, Oslo), Eivind Sander (Uro) and Bjørn Floberg who will return as Varg Veum's partner in the police forces.

The NOK21m project -as well as the following five films of the series- is produced by CineMiso, jointly owned by Cinenord's in Norway and Miso Film in Denmark. Co-financing comes from SF Norge, TV2 Norge, with support from the Norwegian Film Institute.
The two feature films from the first Veum series (Bitter Flowers and Fallen Angels) had 230,000 admissions in Norway and the entire first series sold over 600,000 copies on DVD. They are currently being aired by TV2 Norge.
