The festival which is the result of the merger of the Copenhagen International Film Festival and NatFilm Festival will be launching the ‘New Talent Grand Prix' with a handsome cash award of €50,000. Twelve feature films are competing, including Norway's Nord by Rune Denstad Langlo, supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond, Sweden's Guidance by Johan Jonason, developed as part of the Rookie initiative, Denmark's Blessing by Heidi Maria Faisst, and the French/Danish Sois sage by Juliette Garcias.
The programme of CPH:PIX, put together by festival director Jacob Neiiendam (photo) and head of programming Niels Lind Larsen, spreads across 26 sections. ‘Pix Specials' presents ten films aimed at a larger audience, from Ole Bornedal's Deliver Us from Evil, Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino, Nicolas Winding Refn's Bronson, to Lukas Moodysson's Mammoth; New Danish Talents introduces the latest crop from the DFI's New Danish Screen initiative; and DK Update, is screening eight of the best Danish films from 2008.
Twenty films on the programme will compete for Politiken's Audience Award. The DKK125,000 cash prize will go towards theatrical distribution and marketing costs in Denmark.
