After several crime TV dramas and films - Purity of Vengeance, Warrior and the upcoming series Face to Face - Boe is ‘going “back to his roots” with this relationship drama, which just started filming this week.

As announced earlier in nordicfilmandtvnews.com CLICK HERE), Boe has joined forces for the first time with Academy-award nominated Tobias Lindholm for the script of A Taste of Hunger.

The action is set in PURI, one of Copenhagen’s top restaurants. Coster-Waldau plays Carsten, the chef who runs the gastronomic gem, together with his wife, food anthropologist Maggi, played by Katrine Greis-Rosenthal (Robert award-Best Actress in Bille August’s A Fortunate Man). They have it all-love, two kids and one of the city's most hyped gastronomic temples…but one thing is missing to their trophy list: a Michelin star. In their insatiable passion and pursuit of ultimate recognition, they have also forgotten the crucial ingredient to happiness: that life's meals are best enjoyed together.

Boe says that what life is really about is food and relationships. “Food plays a huge role for us as species and individuals. Through food and love, we attach ourselves to life. So what's more obvious than looking at a modern couple fighting for love, in search of the ultimate affirmation in the hospitality industry: a Michelin star - all set in the backdrop of our beloved and beautiful Copenhagen, which has become the arena for some of the world's most interesting and innovative restaurants over the past few years. I think it's pretty obvious - so that's exactly what we do!"

Besides Coster-Waldau and Greis-Rosenthal, the cast includes Flora Augusta and August Vinkel as the couple’s children, Nicolas Bro as Carsten’s brother Torben, as well as Maj-Britt Mathiesen (Ride Upon the Storm), Rasmus Hammerich (The Rain), Sarah-Sofie Boussnina (The Bridge, Black Lake) as well as Swedish actors Charlie Gustasson (The Restaurant) and Dag Malmberg (The Bridge).

Top crew members comprise cinematographer Manuel Alberto Claro (who worked with Boe on Reconstruction and Sex, Drugs and Taxation), production designer Nikolaj Danielsen (Liberty, Man Divided), and editor My Thordal (Journal 64, Ride Upon the Storm).  Louise Vesth of Zentropa Entertainment is producing, in co-production with Lizette Jonjic of Zentropa Sweden and Film i Väst, in association with TV 2 Denmark, SVT and support from the Danish Film Institute, the Swedish Film Institute and Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

Nordisk Film Distribution will release the film in Denmark on January 21, 2021.
