Cats & Docs Picks up IDFA competition entry Apolonia, Apolonia

The Paris-based sales agent has boarded the Danish documentary film directed by Lea Glob.

Glob’s sprawling portrait of painter Apolonia Sokol, is screening this week in the international competition programme of the leading International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).

At mid-festival, the film ranked 7 at the IDFA audience top chart, among all films screening across the festival's various sections.

Apolonia, Apolonia is also among three films from the international competition selected for the festival’s Tomorrow’s Classics, together with Silent House by Farnaz Jurabchian and Mohammadreza Jurabchian, and Paradise by Alexander Abaturov.

The film was produced by Sidsel Lønvig Siersted for Danish Documentary Production, with backing from broadcasters/platforms DR, SVT, YLE, VGTV, HBO Max, Arte Geie, and Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

Cats & Docs which represents hand-picked documentaries with global appeal, has several other Nordic films on its slate, including the multi-awarded Golden Land by Finland’s Inka Achté, Raise the Bar by Iceland’s Gudjon Ragnarsson and Calendar Girls by Maria Loohufvud and Love Martinsen.
