Canal+ Group acquires Wisting, Rebecka Martinsson

The Nordic crime series repped by Banijay Rights are part of a package deal signed with the French group for its channel POLAR+. 

The Norwegian series Wisting starring Sven Nordin and Carrie-Anne Moss is based on two bestselling novels by Jørn Lier Hors, adapted for the screen by Trygve Allister Diesen and Kathrine Vale Zeiner.

The crime drama produced by Cinenord and The Good Company Films, premiered April 2019 in Nordics via Viaplay, before launching on the US streamer Sundance Now December 18, 2019 and BBC Four in the UK December 28.

Meanwhile the Swedish crime series Rebecka Martinsson season 1 was a major success on TV4 Sweden in 2017, with over 1 million viewers for the opening episode. Season 2 just premiered on C More April 27 and on TV4 May 6. The series produced by Yellow Bird is based on Åsa Larsson’s best-selling novels.

Rebecka Martinsson Season 2 will premiere later this year on the French linear channel POLAR+, while season 1 and Wisting are already available on POLAR+ replay, accessible via myCANAL.

Other crime series part of the package deal include Belgium’s Public Enemy season 1&2 and GRS: Into the Wilderness.
