Lars Bredo Rahbek, (photo) former producer at Nimbus Film, has decided to step down from his current position as head of Fiction for Danish public broadcaster DR, after only nine months in the job.

"I must say that what seemed to be a good idea on paper, - in this case finding a person with solid feature film experience - has proved to be a wrong decision," he said. "My heart still beats for public service and fiction, but after nine months, I feel that my creativity and vision are better suited for feature film."

When Rahbek leaves the company on December 1st, Mette Bock, head of production for DR programmes, will temporarily replace him until a new Head of Fiction is found.

Before joining DR last January, Rahbek spent 11 years at Nimbus Film where he produced highly commercial films (Flame & Citron, What No One Knows) as well as low budget first features (A Soap). His last production for Nimbus Film, Over gaden under vandet by Danish actress turned director Charlotte Sieling, is opening this Friday in Denmark through Sandrew Metronome. The relationships drama starring some of Denmark's finest actors (Nicolas Bro, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Anders W. Berthelsen) was supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
