Double Palme d'or winning director Bille August (photo) will board the Danish-language love story Heaven on Earth for Denmark's Arthouse Production, in co-production with Zentropa and Germany's Amusement Park Films.

The project has received support from the Danish Film Institute and €450,000 development support from the EU's MEDIA Programme. According to news agency Ritzau, Heaven on Earth is set to start filming in 2010 between Denmark and Germany. Based on a script by Lone Scherfig, it will be set during the Cold War, in the 1960s and will focus on a young Danish jazz musician who falls for an East German woman and becomes a double agent in former DDR. When the Stasi start to track them, the pair decides to flee to Denmark. August's last Scandinavian language film was the Swedish film A Song for Martin (2001).
