Dag Johan Haugerud’s drama collects 10 nominations for the annual Norwegian Amanda film awards, to be handed out in Haugesund on August 14, 2020.
The drama Beware of Children which world premiered at Venice Days 2019, is vying among others for Best Film, Director, Script, Best Actress (Henriette Steenstrup) and Best Actor (Jan Gunnar Røise).
The second most nominated film with 8 nods is Maria Sødahl’s drama Hope, running notably for Best Film, Director, Actress (Andrea Bræin Hovig), Actor (Stellan Skarsgård), Cinematography (Manuel Alberto Claro).
Motlys produced both Beware of Children and Hope, the latter film in association with Oslo Pictures.
The children’s film The Ash Lad - In Soria Moria Castle by Mikkel Brænne Sandemose has seven nominations, including Best Children and Production Design (Merete Bostrøm).
Two feature debuts are each competing in five categories: Ingvild Søderlind’s All Foreigners Keep Their Curtains Closed produced by Miso Film Norway and Jorunn Myklebust Syversen’s Disco produced by Mer Film.
Other nominations include The Self-Portrait by Katja Høgset, Margreth Olin and Espen Wallin, running for Best Film, Best Documentary and Best Editing (Helge Billing, Michal Leszczylowski), The Spy, vying for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Alexander Scheer), Make-Up (Siw Järbyn) and Costumes (Ulrika Sjölin), and the animated film Captain Sabertooth and the Magic Diamond, vying for Best Children’s Film and Special Effects (Henrik Dyrkorn).
Nordisk Film & TV Fond is associated to 23 Amanda nominations for the films Beware of Children, Hope, The Spy and Captain Sabertooth and the Magic Diamond.
The 36th Amanda Awards hosted by comedian Odd-Magnus Williamson will be broadcast live on NRK2 August 14.
The awards are part of the 48th Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund (August 14-21).
