The Swedish production company is the fifth brand under the German group’s Nordic umbrella.
Founded in 2016 by Patrick Ryborn, Linus Stöhr Torell and Poa Strömberg, - all three formerly at Eyeworks Sweden, Unlimited Stories is behind the successful Swedish family franchise Sune (The Anderssons trilogy films) and Edward af Sillén’s musical A Piece of My Heart.
The company’s first TV drama Missing People commissioned by SVT and backed by Nordisk Film & TV Fond, is due to premiere next year. The suspense thriller based on an original screenplay by Ulf Ryberg (Millennium, Headhunters) stars Ville Virtanen (Bordertown), Sandra Stojiljkovic (Thin Blue Line) and Peter Viitanen (Real Humans).
Speaking to nordicfilmandtvnews.com, the company’s CEO Poa Strömberg said the partnership with Jan Mojto’s owned Beta Nordic Studios will enable Unlimited Studios to up both the number of projects produced each year and their budget levels.
Strömberg said his company is in final negotiations on a big family drama project with SVT, to be shot next year, and in development with a Netflix original. Two feature films are in the financing stage.
Justus Riesenkampff, chairman of Beta Nordic Studios said: “Our aim is to lift locally initiated productions, both feature films and series, to an international level. With their vast expertise in the Swedish market, Unlimited Stories is a perfect partner to achieve this.”
Set up in 2019 to tap into local scripted content with a global appeal, leveraged by Beta Film’s international distribution network, Beta Nordic Studios’ current production companies under its umbrella include Finland’s Fisher King (Bordertown), Norway’s Cinenord (which recently picked up an International Emmy for Atlantic Crossing), Iceland’s Sagafilm (The Minister), and Sweden’s Dramacorp (Agent Hamilton).
