A handful of Nordic films left the 61st Berlinale with Bear awards and accolades last weekend. The Norwegian kid's movie Liverpool Goalie which was the first Nordic title to be selected, received a Crystal Bear for Best Film from the Generation KPlus sidebar.

Arild Andresen's Liverpool Goalie won a Special Mention from the Generation KPlus international jury. The film was produced by 4½.

Two Swedish films by upcoming directors impressed the 2011 Berlinale juries: Lisa Aschan's feature debut She Monkeys was awarded a Special Mention from the youth Jury at the Generation 14Plus sidebar, while Hugo Lilja's short film The Unliving was selected for the 2011 European Film Awards short film nominations.

The documentary film Barzakh by Lithuanian director Mantas Kvedaravicius, co-produced by Finnish star director Aki Kaurismäki won the Amnesty International Film Prize and Panorama Special Mention from the Ecumenical Jury, while Mika Kaurismäki's documentary Mama Africa about singer Miriam Makeba was ranked number two at the Panorama Dokumente audience vote.

The 2011 Golden Bear-winning film Nader and Simin, a Separation by Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi was acquired by Tri Art Film for Sweden by, Arthaus for Norway and Camera Film for Denmark.
