The Finnish group Aurora Studios is refocusing on its production, coproduction and investment activities via its Finnish Impact Film Fund.

The deal with SF Studios announced today December 5 is effective immediately and covers Aurora Studios’ Finnish film slate until 2027.

“SF Studios Finland has a strong legacy in distributing local films,” said Yaba Holst, head of Nordic acquisitions at SF Studios. “Together with Aurora Studios’ executive producers, we have already delivered box office hits like Unknown Soldier (2017) and Ladies of Steel (2020). We now warmly welcome Aurora Studios to partner with us again. This is very natural joint venture and we look forward to together build a strong line-up of new titles for a cherished Finnish audience.”

”We are extremely happy to restart our great distribution co-operation with SF Studios and put our future focus in the production of domestic films and drama series, international co-productions, and the investing activities of Finnish Impact Film Fund (FIFF)”, added Aurora Studios' Chairman of the Board Ari Tolppanen, who founded the integrated group in 2020.

The next Aurora titles to be released by SF Studios are Herman the Clown and the Hypnotist by Timo Koivusalo (December 22), Four Little Adults by Selma Vilhunen (December 27) and The Missile by Miia Tervo (February 2).

Aurora Studios has recently restructured its activities under the leadership of CEO Teea Hyytiä, formerly at Jarowskij Finland.

The Finnish group will continue to be active in distribution via its label Cinemanse .

”Cinemanse has been with Aurora Studios for one quarter of its 10-year history”, said Cinemanse CEO Hanna Lajunen, citing the smash hits Everything Everywhere All at Once and Aftersun. “Our import slate for the year 2024 looks better than ever,” she noted.
