The NRK series handled internationally by Beta Film is one of four international shows vying in the TV Movie/mini-series category at the prestigious TV awards.

Following its world premiere at Canneseries’ competition programme in October 2020, the Norwegian eight-part series created and directed by Alexander Eik, premiered on NRK and was followed by over a million combined viewers on linear and digital TV. It also aired across the Nordics via DR, SVT, Yle, RÚV, and in the US on PBS Masterpiece, as the first Scandinavian drama series in the public broadcaster's 50-year history.

Inspired by real events, the lavish eight-part TV show starring Sofia Helin, Kyle Maclachlan and Tobias Santelmann, sheds a new light on Norwegian Crown Princess Märtha who fled from Nazi occupation during WW2 to become an influential figure in world politics, through her close relationship with President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Atlantic Crossing was produced by Cinenord, in co-production with Beta Film (the company’s majority shareholder), DR, SVT, and support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond among others.

International TV series competing against Atlantic Crossing for Best TV Move/limited series include the UK’s Des (New Pictures/ITV), South Korea’s It’s Okay to Not be Okay(Studio Dragon/Story TV/Goldmedalist) and Brazil’s Al the Women in the World (Globoplay).

A total of 44 programmes from 24 countries were selected for the 29th International Emmy Awards nominations. The winners will be announced at an in-person ceremony in New York City, November 22, 2021.
