"When I heard of women who were working as assistant veterinarians in the 1960s, at a time when driving fast between farms was essential to make sure bull's sperm would not be wasted, it wasn't very difficult to come up with a good story", said executive producer Marianne Willtorp who came up with the idea.
Currently shooting in the west central region of Värmland in Sweden, the film is directed by Lena Koppel (Bombay Dreams) who co-wrote the script with Lars V Johansson, in collaboration with Göran Lindström, co-head of GF Studios. Lindström who has produced several Swedish hits, including the comedy franchise Göta Kanal, Harry's Daughters and the Oscar nominated As it is in Heaven, is producing Rallybrudar with his partner in GF Studios Anders Birkeland. SF will release the film domestically in the autumn 2008.
