The Arte French/German deal closed on DR Drama’s acclaimed Follow the Money Season 3 (Bedrag 3) is the latest in a slew of foreign acquisitions that kick-started when the series was launched at Berlinale Series earlier this year.
The standalone hard-hitting financial crime thriller aired this spring on BBC4 to strong reviews and ratings. It was just voted Best Nordic TV drama at Oslo Series Days.
DR Sales other crime series Norskov 1-2 from head-writer Dunja Gry Jensen was picked up for Poland.
NRK’s acclaimed premium drama Home Ground was sold to the US (TV and SVOD), Brazil (remake and original rights) and to the Czech Republic, while State of Happiness was picked up for Canada.
DR Sales’ much anticipated event series When the Dust Settles and Cry Wolf (previously A Family Matter) attracted ‘huge interest’ according to Rikke Kristine Nissen, DR Sales Executive Director who said she will take her time to finalise deals. “Both series are standout intense dramas, that keep you on the edge of your seat. We are confident these will be sell out series like The Legacy and Borgen,” she said.
Nissen also pinpointed the recently announced clearing of VOD rights of DR back catalogue that spurred a surge of interest at MIPCOM from world buyers. “We are excited about the revival of the future VOD opportunities and wrapping up the most busy MIPCOM ever. We are looking forward to rolling our drama slate out to an even larger international audience with an even bigger client base,” said Nissen.
On the documentary side, DR Sales also inked the following deals at MIPCOM.
